Saudi Arabian Silver Quarter Riyals Struck by the U.S. Mint

The United States Mint is respected around the world for its high-quality coins. So much so that in the past, foreign governments have reached out America for help in striking their own coinage! Take Saudi Arabia — between 1935 and 1954, the U.S. Mint struck coins similar in size to a U.S. Nickel, Quarter and Half Dollar. These coins were the Quarter Riyal, Half Riyal and One Riyal coins. Collectors love the mysterious, alluring designs featuring Arabic inscriptions flanked by palm trees. The legend on the reverse actually states that the coins were struck in “the Holy City of Mecca,” though we know that to be untrue!

Here you can secure the Quarter Riyal in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. Struck in 3.1 grams of highly pure 91.7% fine silver, it measures 19 mm in diameter, or just slightly smaller than the U.S. Nickel 5-cents coin. Don’t let this American-Arab hybrid coin slip through your fingers like so many grains of sand. Secure it to your cart today!
