How Many Ridges Are On A Quarter?

By GovMint :
A U.S. quarter has 119 ridges, also known as reeding, on its edge. This feature was initially introduced to prevent counterfeiting and the illegal practice of shaving off small amounts of precious metal from the edges of coins, which were historically made of silver. Although modern circulating quarters no longer contain silver, the ridges remain a standard feature, serving as a nod to tradition and aesthetic choice.
