How Long Have We Used Liberty on Coins?

How Long Have We Used Liberty on Coins?

By GovMint :

Liberty has been a staple on U.S. coins since 1793. From the very beginning, the concept of Liberty was chosen to embody the ideals of freedom and democracy that the young nation was founded upon. In fact, the Coinage Act of 1792 made it so that all early circulating coinage would bear an “impression emblematic of liberty” as well as the inscription “Liberty.”

The first coin that featured an image of Liberty was the 1793 Flowing Hair Cent. Since then, Liberty has appeared on countless American coins over the years, including Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars, American Silver Eagles, and many more. Over the generations, the depiction of Liberty on U.S. coins has evolved alongside changing artistic styles and cultural trends.
