The Perth Mint’s Pure Silver World Money Fair Kookaburra

2020 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Perth Mint’s popular Kookaburra series, and what better way to kick off the celebration than with an exclusive release at the World Money Fair in Berlin. After all, the event is not only the first international coin show of the year, it’s also one of the biggest – a lavish affair that attracts the world’s premier mints, numismatists and thousands of collectors and dealers.

Australia’s Perth Mint pulled out all the stops for this exclusive release. It features the famous Kookaburra singing to the rays of a setting sun perched atop a building that seems to resemble Germany’s Brandenburg Gate. Rendered in full color, the design is absolutely magnificent. The coin’s obverse is no less exciting: Beneath an inset of Queen Elizabeth II you’ll see the design of the original Kookaburra that made its first appearance in 1990. To drive the significance of the milestone release date home, the coin features the words 30TH ANNIVERSARY on the reverse and the dual dates of 1990 and 2020 on the obverse.

Each legal-tender one-dollar coin was minted in a full ounce of 99.99% pure silver and will come in original Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition as fresh and crisp as the day it left the mint. In addition, each coin will also come sealed in a classic mint display case with a clear lid and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
