Ancient Biblical Gold Daric — With Original Mint Luster!
- ANCIENT HISTORY YOU CAN HOLD IN YOUR HANDS – Each coin was struck by the Achaemenid Empire more than 2,400 years old during a time when this Persian empire was at its apex. Founded by Cyrus the Great in 550 B.C., the empire reached its greatest extent under King Xerxes I, the son of Darius the Great who reigned from 486 to 465 B.C. Now you can hold an actual piece of that history in your hands!
- FIRST COIN MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE – This coin is the first coin mentioned by name in the Bible. You find the passage in Chronicles 1, 29:7 and Ezra 8:27. It also occupies a full page in the book Money of the Bible by Kenneth Bressett.
- EACH COIN STRUCK BY HAND – Your Gold Daric was carefully struck by ancient artisans more than two millennia ago. Because of this, no two coins are exactly alike!
- NICE COLLECTOR GRADE CONDITION – Each coin has been certified and graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as being in About Uncirculated (AU) condition with a phenomenal Strike 5/5 and Surface 4/5.
- SEALED IN A PROTECTIVE HOLDER – Your coin has been sonically sealed in an acrylic holder with a special label noting that it is from the ACHAEMENID EMPIRE.
How can a coin struck more than 2,400 years ago still maintain its original luster? We’re not sure, but somehow this coin has done it!
The Great Kings of the Achaemenid Empire
Struck sometime between 485 and 420 B.C., this Gold Daric comes from the Achaemenid Empire and displays King Darius I on the obverse with a spear and bow and a plain rectangular punch on the reverse. Hailed as Darius the Great, this Persian king reigned from 522 to –486 B.C. Among his many accomplishments was organizing Achaemenid coinage into a new uniform monetary system. His son, Xerxes I, ruled this Persian empire from 486 to 465 B.C. during which time it reached its greatest extent. His son, Artaxerxes I, ascended to the throne after Xerxes was murdered by a powerful court official. Artaxerxes ruled from 465 to 424 B.C. and is the Persian king mentioned in the Bible’s books of Ezra and Nehemiah. In fact, this Gold Daric was the first coin mentioned by name in the Bible (Chronicles 1, 29:7 and Ezra 8:27), and is featured on a full page in the book Money of the Bible, which you will receive when you secure this coin.
An Uncommon Coin from the First Persian Empire
Most of the Gold Darics found on the market today are later, more common pieces struck after 420 B.C. Very few are designated as being from this period, especially in such incredible condition. This coin comes certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as being in About Uncirculated (AU) condition with a perfect Strike 5/5 — due to its design being perfectly centered on the planchet — and a Surface 4/5.
A beautiful addition to your biblical or ancient collection!
