Struck by Great Britain’s prestigious Commonwealth Mint in an ounce of highly pure 99.9% fine silver, this coin retains the emblematic “winged liberty” from Weinman’s original sketches. However, it replaces the Phrygian Cap with an ancient military-style helmet. This is an acknowledgment of Mercury, the Roman god of commerce and financial gain, who wore this headpiece on classical coinage. This rendition of Weinman’s Winged Liberty design has retained its all-American elements: Liberty, the 13 stars and E PLURIBUS UNUM, imbuing them with modern stylizations and engraving techniques to enhance the overall aura.
