A Variety Of Unique Mint-Error Coins

An error coin is one that was incorrectly struck by The Mint. Error coins come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and types—and the sheer diversity of errors adds exhilaration and uniqueness to collecting them. Mint errors are not common because the U.S. Mint has strict quality control, and errors do not escape the mint often. In this seven-piece set you have a mix of Off-Center, Double-Struck, and Uniface errors. Off-Center errors are produced when a blank planchet is struck once, off-center, near the edge. Double Struck errors occur when the coin is struck again, off center, resulting in multiple images. A Uniface error results when two planchets are stacked one atop the other at the time of striking, which produces two coins: one with only an obverse image, and a second with only a reverse image.
