Paying Tribute To The Bravery And Valor Of “The Greatest Generation”
This five-piece set features a Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Mercury Dime, Washington Quarter and Walking Liberty Half Dollar all struck in 1941—the same year as the devastating surprise attack on Pearl Harbor by forces of Imperial Japan.
A Day That Will Live In Infamy
At 8 a.m. on December 7, 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes descended on the base in Honolulu, Hawaii, destroying or damaging 20 American naval vessels, including eight battleships, and 300 airplanes. More than 2,400 Americans died in the attack and another 1,000 were wounded. Instead of the knockout blow Japan had hoped for, it enraged America to avenge the sneak attack and propelled the United States into World War II, a conflict that for almost three years America tried to avoid.
This set is a tribute to the bravery and valor of all U.S. personnel who were part of that fateful day. Each coin is in Very Good (VG) condition and all five coins come displayed in a 3" x 5" storycard. Plus, you’ll also receive a replica of an actual newspaper printed on December 8, 1941, detailing the “day that will live in infamy” along with a 1 Peso coin issued by the Japanese government to circulate in occupied Philippines.
