Walking Liberty Half Dollar Decades Set

Considered by many to feature America’s most beautiful coin design, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar exemplifies American spirit and pride, with Miss Liberty walking toward the sun on the obverse and a bold eagle with outspread wings on the reverse. In fact, the design also graces the American Silver Eagle Dollar, the best-selling coin on the planet.

These four-piece sets of 90% fine silver half dollars include one from each of the four decades these coins were minted—the 1910s, 1920s, 1930 and 1940s—and each coin will come in nice, Very Good to Very Fine (G–VF) condition, meaning they were circulated and still have complete details and exhibit minor wear.

A Staple Of American History

The Walking Liberty series was struck from 1916 to 1947 and are revered by collectors, with many viewing the design as the ultimate triumph from the Renaissance period of American numismatics. Designed by German-born American sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, these coins were affectionately known as “Walkers.” They are a staple of American history and are even more popular today than when they circulated during the first half of the 20th Century. The obverse depicts Miss Liberty walking toward the sun, and the reverse portrays an eagle facing left with wings outspread. This set includes four key-date Walking Liberty Half Dollars: 1918, the last year of World War I and only the third year of issue; 1929, struck the year of the Great Stock Market Crash; 1933-S, the ONLY silver coin struck by the U.S. Mint in 1933; and 1947, the last year of the series.

Through the ravages of time, however, many Walking Liberty Half-Dollars wore out in circulation or were thrown into the melting pots for their precious silver. What remains today is likely only a very small fraction of the total mintage. Don’t let these coins walk away from you; secure them for your collection today!
