When the United States Mint announced that it would be changing the design on its Silver Eagles in 2021 — the first design change in the series’ 35-year history — people went absolutely bonkers. Then, when 2021 arrived, collectors were presented with not one but TWO Silver Eagle designs: The first or “Type 1” version, featured John Mercanti’s original Heraldic Eagle reverse design.
