U.S. Mint Sets: A First and A Last

In 1963, the U.S. Mint Struck the final mint sets to feature the Franklin Half Dollar — but they didn’t know it yet. It wouldn’t be until that fateful day in November when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated that a swift change would take place at the mint. Soon after Kennedy’s death, it was decided that the Franklin Half Dollar would be replaced with what was intended to be a one-year-only design honoring the beloved president. And so, in 1964, the U.S. Mint Sets included the Kennedy Half Dollar. The Kennedy Half Dollar proved to be so popular, however, that it has been struck ever since.

These two sets are also notable for being the final U.S. Mint Sets to include coins struck in 90% fine silver! You can secure both and receive an additional $2 Legal Tender Red Seal Note that would have been in circulation at the time. Click this key First and Last collection to your cart today!
