The Franklin Half Dollar was first unveiled to the public in 1948, replacing the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. It enjoyed a popular run until 1963, when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Just a few months later in 1964, the U.S. Mint replaced the Franklin with a new half dollar honoring the fallen president. Had JFK not been killed, this might still be the Half Dollar found in our Mint and Proof Sets! This two-coin set brings together the first and final dates of the Franklin Half Dollar series in Extremely Fine (XF) and Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, respectively.
