Tribute To America’s First Super-Dreadnought Battleship

Launched in 1914, the USS Nevada was the United States Navy’s first super-dreadnought battleship. She served in both World Wars and was the only battleship to get underway during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor after earlier escorting President Woodrow Wilson to the Paris Peace Conference at the end of World War I. Here we have a pair of coins that were struck the same year Nevada was launched. Who knows, these coins may have even been carried in the pockets of the ship’s sailors!

Vintage Barber Coins From The Year The Nevada Was Launched

These coins — a Barber Dime and Barber Quarter — were long-running coins designed by Charles Barber, the U.S. Mint’s 6th Chief Engraver. Both were struck in highly pure 90% fine silver and feature the same design of Lady Liberty with her hair tucked up under her cap facing right on the obverse. The reverse of the dime shows a wreath and the ONE DIME denomination while the quarter’s reverse shows a heraldic eagle based on the Great Seal of the United States.

Each coin in this set will come in nice collector grade Good to Very Good (G–VG) condition and mounted in a custom-designed 3" x 5" storycard housed in a clear acrylic holder and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
