Special Notes That Commemorate Mexican Independence

A wonderful way to honor the culture and history of Mexico, these polymer Notes were printed in 2010 by el Banco de Mexico—the Bank of Mexico—to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s 1810 Independence from Spain and the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution. The set comes in the original folio with descriptions of both notes.

Stunning Images Of Mexican Patriotism

The notes have matching serial numbers, and are in Gem Uncirculated condition, never having been removed from the folder. The 100 Pesos obverse prominently features a locomotive used to transport troops. The 200 Pesos obverse features a painting by famous Mexican artist Jesus Enrique Emilio de la Helguera of Don Miguel Hidalgo giving an impassioned speech in support of independence. An interesting fact about the 200 Peso note is that they unlike all other Mexican paper money, this note was printed in vertical orientation.

About Polymer Bank Notes

Mexico began issuing polymer currency—bank notes made from a synthetic polymer such as biaxially oriented polypropylene—in the early 2000s. The switch was a cost-effective decision as these notes have significantly longer lifespans than paper notes and have a decreased impact on the environment. Besides the reduced cost of production and replacement, these notes also incorporate many security features not available in paper banknotes, including the use of metameric inks.

These notes are among the most unique we’ve ever seen. If you’re a collector of world bank notes or a fan of Mexican history and culture, then this set is for you! Secure yours now!
