Super Grade 2009 John Tyler Missing Edge Lettering Presidential Dollar Is Yours if You Act Fast
This 2009 Tyler Presidential Error is not only a highly sought after mint error, it's also a super grade Mint State-67 (MS67) example certified by Professional Coin Grading Service and hand-singed by Mint Director Edmund Moy. The U.S. Mint revised a decades old process of adding edge lettering when the Presidential Dollars were first struck in 2007. The edge lettering is supposed to contain the year, the mintmark and the mottos "E Pluribus Unum". It mostly worked fine, but a small number of coins missing the edge lettering escaped the mint.
This 2009 Tyler Dollar is just such a coin.
Tyler was a rather controversial President. He was the first to become President after the death of another President. He seized power quickly to assure his legitimacy and angered his party in the process. The Whigs kicked him out, and he was unable to run for President in 1844. His most noted accomplishment was the annexation of Texas, with congress passing the legislation in the last days of his term
