Three Things You Should Know About Burnished Eagles

America’s Silver Eagle is arguably the most collected silver coin in the world. Several varieties of this coin exist, but none come in smaller mintages than the Burnished Silver Eagle, beautifully struck with a special smooth, matte-like finish that sets it apart from the more populous bullion and Proof Silver Eagles. Burnished Eagles were first released In 2006 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the American Silver Eagle Program. Since then, they’ve become an easy choice for anyone interested in coin collecting. Here’s three reasons why:

  • First, Burnished Silver Eagles are struck in far smaller numbers than their bullion counterparts. In the first two years of their release the numbers are astonishing — the mintage for 2007 Burnished Eagles was 95.6% fewer than their bullion counterparts and in 2007 the mintage was 93.1% fewer!
  • Second, they have not been consistently released. They weren’t minted at all in 2009 and 2010.
  • Finally, 2021 marks the final year of the current, beloved Silver Eagle design featuring John Mercanti’s Heraldic Eagle on the coin’s reverse. Current plans call for the 2021 Burnished Silver Eagles to feature a new design created by Emily Damstra!

The combination of those three factors makes these second-year 2007 Burnished Silver Eagles struck at the West Point Mint even more noteworthy. And don’t forget the silver — each is struck in a full ounce of highly pure 99.9% fine silver and will come in original Uncirculated condition just as if it had just left the mint! Quantities are extremely limited so secure yours now!
