Complete Presidential Dollar Collection
Authorized by an Act of Congress in 2005, the Presidential Dollar program began in 2007, replacing the Sacagawea Dollar. The program called for striking coins featuring past presidents who have passed on into immortality. Over the course of the next 13 years, 40 coins in all were released, though coins were only struck for circulation through 2011.
A Set Bookended By a Pair of Georges
Beginning with George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in 2007, four coins were struck each year until 2016, when only three presidential dollars were struck. With the passing of former president George H.W. Bush, a 40th coin was minted in 2020. This set brings together all 40 coins in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, housed together in a deluxe presentation case.
Since the program forbids issuing a coin of a living president, President Jimmy Carter is not included — and won’t be until two years after his passing. Likewise, Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barrack Obama, Donald Trump and Joe Biden are not included in the set.
