Two Secret Half Dollars From 2002
Psst! Listen up. These coins are kind of a secret...most collectors aren’t even aware of that exist! That’s because, in 2002, the United States Mint didn’t release them for circulation. The Kennedy Half Dollar and the Sacajawea Golden Dollar had been issued into circulation in previous years, but in 2002 their small mintages were only available to collectors and featured a drastic drop-off in mintage numbers.
Not Intended For Circulation
In 2001, the U.S. Mint struck and 40.7 million Kennedy Half Dollars and 133.4 million Sacajawea Half Dollars. In 2002, those mintages dropped off to 5.6 million and 7.56 million respectively—a reduction of between 85 and 90 percent! These coins sometimes turn up here and there as collectors break them up and give them away as gifts or family members, not knowing what they have, spend them. But now, you can get both of these Not Intended For Circulation (NIFC) coins in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition housed together in an attractive custom designed card that’s perfect for display anywhere in your home or office.
