1973-P Eisenhower Dollar NGC MS65
A Very Key Date Eisenhower Dollar
The Eisenhower Dollar was America’s last large-sized dollar coin struck for circulation. It also had a relatively short lifespan, being struck from just 1971 to 1978. In 1973, the United States Mint decided NOT to strike Eisenhower Dollars for circulation. They struck only 2 million coin each in Denver and Philadelphia, making that year’s crop of “Ike” Dollars the lowest mintage Clad Eisenhower Dollars struck in the series. And that, friends, makes them highly sought-after.
The coins available in this offer were struck at the “Mother Mint” in Philadelphia. Plus, each has been certified and graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being in Gem Uncirculated Mint State-65 (MS65) condition, with very pleasing eye appeal and full mint luster.
A Stirring Tribute to “Ike”
The vivid memories of this big dollar are one of the reasons many people started collecting coins in the first place. On the obverse is the bust of Dwight David Eisenhower — the nation’s 34th President and a United States Army Five-Star General who served as the Supreme Allied Commander of Allied Forces in Europe during World War II. The coin’s reverse is the same design as that from the insignia of the Apollo 11 mission that landed the first men on the moon. These two designs together pay tribute to one of America’s greatest presidents and one of the country’s greatest achievements all on one coin!
