High-Quality 1953-S Roosevelt Dimes
There used to be a time when you could reach inside your pocket and pull out a Roosevelt Dime struck in 90% fine silver. But those days are long gone. In fact, it’s been more than half a century since our smallest circulating coin was struck in the precious metal! That’s why we feel so fortunate to have amassed a small hoard of these coins in our vault. Now it’s your turn to feel fortunate with this opportunity to add one of these vintage silver dimes to your own collection—and in high-grade Uncirculated condition to boot!
Honoring FDR’s Service
In 1945 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt died, the United States Mint decided to honor his service and leadership through the turbulent years of the Great Depression and World War II by putting his effigy on the dime. The Roosevelt Dime was released into circulation on January 30, 1946, to coincide with what would have been President Franklin Roosevelt’s 64th birthday. Because Roosevelt suffered from polio and had helped found the March of Dimes to fight the disease, using his likeness on the dime was the obvious way to honor the popular president. Beautifully designed by John R. Sinnock, the design has remained unchanged ever since.
Key-Date Dimes From The San Francisco Mint
Throughout the Roosevelt Dime’s existence from 1946 to 1964, it was struck in highly pure 90% fine silver, making those early years of the popular coin a favorite among collectors. Among those early years is this key-date Roosevelt Dime struck in 1953 at the San Francisco Mint. Why is this a key date? It’s because the San Francisco Mint produced this series for only 10 of the 19 years (from 1946 to 1955) when it was struck in silver. What’s more, San Francisco struck only 4% of the total mintage during that time. Here you can not only secure one of those key-date, low-mintage 1953-S Roosevelt Dimes certified, but it will come certified, graded, and encapsulated by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being in Superb Gem Uncirculated Mint State-67 (MS67) condition. But hurry; our supplies are limited so you must act fast!
