Low-Mintage San Francisco Mint Standing Liberty Quarters
Take a trip back to the Roaring ’20s with this low-mintage Standing Liberty Quarter from the San Francisco Mint. How low? In 1927, the San Francisco Mint struck only 396,000 of these—the second lowest mintage in the entire series! And of that amount, there’s no telling how many—or how few—escaped the melting pots and still exist today!
Herman Atkins MacNeil’s Classic Design
What we do know is that the Standing Liberty Quarter was struck from 1916 to 1930, with its classic, design by sculptor Herman Atkins MacNeil that shows an elegant Lady Liberty holding a shield and an olive branch of peace. The coin’s reverse features an eagle in flight. These 90% silver quarters used to be everywhere, but finding one in circulation today is rare. This quarter’s original design featured Lady Liberty with an exposed breast, but many Americans felt the imagery was obscene and immoral, leading to this chainmail covering version. The ones available here come graded in nice Very Good+ (VG+) condition. Hurry and order now!
