First and Last Morgan Silver Dollar from the Denver Mint

This 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar has a unique distinction: It's the first and last Morgan Silver Dollar from the Denver Mint. This example is in the high collector grade of Extremely Fine (XF) condition.

In 1917, hundreds of millions of Morgan Silver Dollars were melted to support the War Effort in the First World War. The melting was authorized by the Pittman Act, which was one of the provisions of which was that the melted Silver Dollars were to be replaced after the war. The Mint began striking the replacement coins in 1921. It was decided that the new Silver Dollar should be of a new design, but because of time pressures, a new coin could not be put into production before the end of the year. So, the mint reprised the original Morgan Silver Dollar design from 1878, slightly altering it. It also struck its first Silver Dollars at the Denver Mint, which didn't exist when the original run of Morgans were struck up to 1904. Because the Morgan was replaced by the Peace Silver Dollar in 1922, this Denver Mint Morgan has the distinction of being the only first and last coin in the series.

First and lasts of any coin series are always coveted by collectors. Here's your chance!
