1910–1919 Canadian Large Cents 5-pc Set F-VF
Huge Canadian Copper Cents From The Last Decade Of Issue — Five Different Guaranteed!
Struck from 1858 all the way to 1920, Canada’s first copper cents measured a whopping 25.4 mm diameter — that’s nearly one inch! That’s 33% larger than the cents that replaced them! Canadian large cents were struck on the same planchet used for the British halfpenny and the decision to reduce the size in 1920 was made due to the soaring cost of copper. The first Canadian Large cents were issued to bring a modicum of order to the Canadian monetary system, which until then relied on a combination of British coinage, bank and commercial tokens, U.S. currency and Spanish milled dollars.
Large British “Coppers” Featuring King George V
Now you can get five Canadian Large Cents struck from 1910 to 1919 from the last decade they were issued. The obverse of each of these “coppers” as they were called, features Great Britain’s King George V, who reigned from 1910-1936 during a period when Canada was still a British colony. This five-coin set will include five different dates (our choice) with no duplicates and will arrive in Fine to Very Fine (F-VF) condition. Secure yours now!
