1909 Coca-Cola® Serving Tray SST
1909 Coca-Cola Serving Tray
Coca-Cola® is one of the most recognizable brands in the world. What began as a local beverage in an Atlanta, Georgia soda fountain in 1886 has become an integral part of American culture and spawned a company whose products are enjoyed 1.7 billion times a day. That enjoyment extends to collectors. Coca-Cola collector organizations exist around the world, with an annual convention held in the United States every year. And these collectors mean serious business: vintage Coca-Cola memorabilia can go for more than $100,000 on the collector market!
111-Year-Old Collectible Serves Up Coca-Cola Memories
Recently, we’ve established a relationship with one of the nation’s top Coca-Cola memorabilia dealers, and so we’ve worked to bring you a fantastic selection of historic pieces we think you’ll really enjoy. This offering is a 111-year-old single-sided tin (SST) serving tray that depicts an elegantly dressed woman serving up a glass of Coke. The condition of this tray is quite good for its age, with graphics and color all still present with minimal marking and some slight patina. This means that this tray was likely used in service, presenting cookies, light snacks or perhaps a glass or two of Coca-Cola to waiting customers.
As was typical at the time, this exact same design was made in multiple sizes, including a smaller “tip tray” version. This “medium oval” size would have been large enough to carry multiple drinks, and was provided to distributors of Coca-Cola, so it was likely used in service by a business rather than in a home.
