Beautiful And Scarce Liberty Gold Coin

This beautiful $5 Gold Liberty coin was struck at the San Francisco Mint—created as a direct result of the California Gold Rush—which celebrated its 175th Anniversary in 2023. This 1901-dated coin was struck in 8.359 grams of highly pure 90% fine gold the same year Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt took over as President following the assassination of President William McKinley. President Roosevelt then played a large role in the design updates of American coinage. This coin features a design crafted by Christian Gobrecht, the U.S. Mint’s Third Chief Engraver, that shows Miss Liberty backed by a Heraldic Eagle with outstretched wings. The design was one of the longest-running design in U.S. history, appearing on the $5 Gold Half Eagle from 1939 to 1908—a span of nearly 70 years!

High-Grade Vintage Half Eagles Personally Signed By David J. Ryder!

Each 1901-S $5 Gold Liberty available here also comes certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being in Choice Uncirculated Mint State-63 (MS63) condition—a remarkable grade considering the age of these coins and the fact that these types of coins were widely circulated and used by people every day for transactions large and small. Millions of these gold coins were melted in the 1930s after President Franklin D. Roosevelt recalled gold coins from the public in 1933. Millions more were lost to international business transactions where they were often melted or hidden away and forgotten in foreign bank vaults.

Gold coins like these are difficult to find, especially with this high grade. In fact, the specimen of this coin in the Smithsonian® Institute is only one grade higher than the one available here! What also makes the coins available here so exciting it that each one has been sonically sealed in a museum-quality acrylic holder and encapsulated with a special label that was personally signed by David J. Ryder, the former 34th and 39th Director of the U.S. Mint who served from 1992 to 1993 and from 2018 to 2021! We have only a few of these coins available, so HURRY!
