1901-O $10 Gold Liberty NGC/PCGS MS62 w/1928 $10 Gold Certificate
An Escapee From the 1933 Gold Recall
This 1901-O $10 Gold Liberty is an incredible find. Not only is it one of the few vintage gold coins to survive the mass meltings that took place after the 1933 Gold Recall issued by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, but it was scarce to begin with. The 1901-O mintage was just 72,041 coins! Finding these in any quantity is a real treat, but the coin we offer here even has been graded by either the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) or the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) as being in Uncirculated Mint State-62 (MS62) condition, showing off a fantastic amount of luster for a coin that’s 120 years old. In addition, you’ll also receive a 1928 $10 Gold Certificate, which could have been traded in for a $10 Gold Liberty. Gold Certificates were likewise recalled in 1933, with many of them destroyed. We have very few of these sets left — secure yours now! Grading service varies.
COIN HIGHLIGHTS:
- VINTAGE LONG-RUNNING DESIGN – The $10 Gold Liberty coin was minted from 1838 to 1907. It was designed by James B. Longacre, the 4th Chief engraver at the U.S. Mint and one of the most celebrated and prolific coin designers in American history.
- STRUCK IN HIGHLY PURE GOLD – Each 1901-O $10 Gold Liberty coin was struck at the New Orleans Mint in 16.72 grams of highly pure 90% fine gold and measures 27 mm diameter.
- UNITED STATES LEGAL TENDER – This 1901-O $10 Gold Liberty coin was legal tender in the United States. Gold coins with denominations of $10 are also known as Gold Eagles.
- BEAUTIFUL MINT STATE CONDITION – Your 1901-O $10 Gold Liberty coin has been graded by either the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) or the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) in Mint State-62 (MS62) condition. Grading service varies.
- LIMITED QUANTITY IN GRADED CONDITION – The mintage of $10 Gold Liberty coins struck in 1901 at the New Orleans Mint was just 72,041.
Because they’re also heavy, these $10 Gold eagles were easily damaged in transport. So, finding one so close to the condition it was in the day it left the mint makes this $10 Gold Liberty coin a real prize — and a great addition to your collection as an individual coin.
