1900 Canada 25 Cents Paper Note F–VF
Turn of the Century Canadian Banknote
At the turn of the century, the Bank of Canada issued Canadian Dollar banknotes in 12 different denominations. One of them was this 25 Cents note, featuring a stunning vignette of a seated Britannia with her shield and trident, it even shows a full-rigged sailing ship in the background. The front of this note has a slight brown tint, while the ornate reverse is a stark green, giving the note a high level of overall eye appeal.
Printed by the American Bank Note Company in Ottawa, Ontario, this fractional issue note is commonly referred to as a “shinplaster,” which, in Canada, did not carry the derogatory connotation it did south of the border in the United States. Still in Fine to Very Fine (F–VF) condition, this note gives you a chance to step back in time 120 years ago to the turn of the century! Condition varies.
