1891-CC Morgan Silver Dollar NGC MS62 w/Ryder Signature
1891 Morgan Silver Dollars From The Carson City Mint
The Carson City Mint—located in Carson City, Nevada, near the Comstock Lode, one of the richest silver deposits in the U.S.— struck Morgans for only 13 years—from 1878 to 1891 and again from 1889 to 1893. The mintages were low—so low in fact that only 2% of vintage Morgan were ever struck featuring the distinctive “CC” mint mark. On top of that, coin experts estimate that as few as 15% of ALL Morgans ever minted still exist in any condition, which makes these coins graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being in sought-after Uncirculated Mint State-62 (MS62) condition remarkable!
Historically Significant Morgans Signed By One Of The Coin World’s Most Influential People
Historically significant, Morgan Silver Dollars are synonymous with the Wild West as ranchers, cowboys, and outlaws trusted “hard” currency in their saddlebags rather than “flimsy” paper currency. The cherry on top here is that each coin comes encapsulated with a label featuring the hand-signed signature of former 34th and 39th Mint Director David J. Ryder, who was not only named one of Coin World’s “Most Influential People in Numismatics” in 2021, but who was in large part responsible for the modern version of the Morgan that began in 2021 for the coin’s 100th anniversary! COIN HIGHLIGHTS:
- AMERICA’S MOST POPULAR COIN – The Morgan Silver Dollar—so named for its designer, U.S. Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan—has stood the test of time. Struck from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921, it was the coin of America’s “Wild West” and jingled in the coin purses of gamblers, gunfighters, soldiers, and dance hall girls.
- BIG SILVER COINS – Struck in 26.73 grams of highly pure 90% fine silver, the Morgan Silver Dollar is a big coin 38.1 mm in diameter. When this coin was plunked down on a counter, its weight meant real money, pure and simple.
- CLASSIC DESIGNS – Morgan’s historic design depicts a profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse while the reverse features an eagle with outstretched wings. The model used for Liberty was Miss Anna Williams of Philadelphia, who Morgan declared to have the most perfect feminine profile he had ever seen.
- FAMOUS “CC” MINT MARK – Morgan Silver Dollars from the Carson City Mint are the epitome of America’s Wild West. Struck from silver mined from the famous Comstock Lode, coins like these jingled in the pockets of sheriffs, outlaws, cattle barons, and gamblers as they tamed the Wild West.
- CHOICE UNCIRCULATED CONDITION – Your 1891-CC Morgan Silver Dollar has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being in Choice Uncirculated Mint State-63 (MS63) condition.
- SIGNED BY A COIN GIANT – Your coin will be sonically sealed in a museum-quality acrylic holder and encapsulated with an exclusive label that was personally signed by AMS Ambassador David J. Ryder. The former 34th and 39th Director of the U.S. Mint who served from 1992 to 1993 and from 2018 to 2021, Ryder was named by Coin World as one of its “Most Influential People in Numismatics.”
- THE CASE OF THE DISAPPEARING MORGAN – Despite millions of Morgan Silver Dollars being struck from 1878 to 1921, most were lost in circulation or melted down in mass silver meltings. In fact, coin experts believe that only 15% of all Morgans ever struck remain in existence today!
The total amount of Morgan Silver Dollars has seen significant evaporation into both collections and the melting pots. Don’t wait any longer; secure yours now!
