1863 50 Cent Confederate Currency Note Fine
First 50 Cent Confederate Paper Currency
In 1861, the Civil War erupted between the United States of America and the Confederate States of America. Two years later, the South printed and circulated the first of two 50-cent paper currency notes. The smallest denomination note printed during the war, it was created to help with the shortage of coinage being experienced at the time. Beautifully designed, this note features a prominent a roman-style bust of Confederate President Jefferson Davis on the obverse paired with an ornate blue reverse. Each note comes hand-signed by the wife of a Confederate officer!
Knowledgeable Civil War currency collectors are quick to understand that the lowest denomination CSA bank notes are the most difficult to find because they were used extensively in day-to-day transactions and just plum wore out. That’s why we were so excited when we found a small hoard of these 1864 Jefferson Davis 50 Cent notes!
Civil War artifacts of all kinds are always in high demand. These popular notes are likely to disappear fast, so limber up your Rebel Yell and secure yours now!
