1836 Gobrecht Silver Dollar Seated Liberty Judd-60 Restrike PCGS PF58
A Must-Have For Silver Dollar Collectors
The Gobrecht Dollar Restrikes, also known as Judd-60, are a must-have for any real Silver Dollar collector. But with mintages of just 1,000 coins in 1836 and 600 coins in 1837, only 1600 ever existed – and that was more than 180 years ago!
Of those original 1,600 coins, the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) have only graded a combined 288. That means there’s only a scant 288 coins certified by PCGS or NGC for the millions of silver dollar collectors in the United States – let alone the rest of the world. If you’re looking for competition, you’ve found it! The Smithsonian® does not even have an example of this coin!
A coin like this can only be seen today in elite collections, and only when its owner decides to share what they’ve secured. They then quickly disappear once again, unlikely to return to the public eye anytime soon.
The coin our experts have located is one of the original 1,000 struck in 1836. A beautiful coin, it grades as Proof-58 (PF58) condition by PCGS. In total PCGS has graded only 319 of these coins, with only 108 grading higher. That makes this not only a prized possession, but also a relatively affordable grade.
There are simply not enough of these coins to go around, but no Silver Dollar collection is complete without one. Will you let it slip back into someone else’s private collection, or will you move quickly to secure it for yourself today?
- U.S. MINT RESTRIKE FROM THE 1800s – The original Gobrecht Silver Dollars were legal tender coins struck in 1836. Just 1,600 were struck and they were issued to gauge the public’s opinion of the new dollar coin. By the mid-1800s, a growing collector market prompted officials at the U.S. Mint to re-strike a number of these coins as medals, which were then sold to an eager public from 1850 to the 1870s.
- COIN DESIGN CLASSIC – The Gobrecht Silver Dollar gets its name from its designer, Christian Gobrecht, the third Chief Engraver at the U.S. Mint. The “Seated Liberty” design for this coin was altered slightly and used on the half dime, dime, quarter, half dollar and silver dollar, giving Gobrecht ever-lasting fame for his timeless classic.
- STRUCK IN FINE SILVER – This 1836 Gobrecht Seated Liberty Silver Dollar Restrike was minted in 26.36 grams of 90% silver.
- GRADED IN FABULOUS PROOF CONDITION – Your 1836 Gobrecht Seated Liberty Silver Dollar Restrike has been graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) as being in Proof-58 condition. It is a Judd-60 (J-60) specimen as cataloged by Dr. J. Hewitt Judd in his book, United States Pattern Coins.
By securing this historic piece of numismatic history, you will appreciate the terrific history behind the Gobrecht Silver Dollars and the evolution of America’s silver dollar. Reserve it now and make it a crown jewel of your personal collection!
