Limited Availability Of ONE! Complete 1937 British 15-Piece Proof Set

The United Kingdom issued this magnificent 15-coin British Proof Set in 1937 to commemorate King George VI’s ascension to the throne. For much of the 20th century, Great Britain issued proof sets only for special occasions—like this one commemorating the coronation of George VI and his wife Elizabeth (The Queen Mother to Elizabeth II) as King and Queen of the British Commonwealth and as Emperor and Empress of India.

Enjoy The Regal Feel Of This Gorgeous Proof Set

The 15 coins in this proof set, each dated 1937, include seven regular-circulation silver pieces struck in 50% silver: a crown (5 shillings), half-crown (2½ shillings), florin (2 shillings), 2 different designs of shillings, a sixpence and a three-pence; four coins that are silver Maundy issues—special coinage handed out by the monarch every year on Royal Maundy, the Thursday before Good Friday: a groat (4 pence), three pence, two pence and a silver penny; and four base metal coins: a brass three pence, and a bronze penny, half-penny and farthing (quarter-penny). Portraits of George VI, crowns, crests, royal shields, and other images populate the designs giving this set a look and feel that is nothing short of regal.

Low Mintage And Consecutively Serial-Numbered Coins

This 1937 British Proof Set has a mintage of only 26,402 sets, which is relatively low, especially if you compare it to 1950s and ’60s United States Proof Sets, which were generally issued in the hundreds of thousands or millions. The coins in this set have been certified and graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) in grades ranging from Very Choice Proof-64 to Superb Gem Proof-67 (PR64–PR67) condition and are consecutively serial-numbered.

Early 20th century British proof sets have some of the best original packaging of any proof sets ever and this one is no exception with its classic, original, silk-lined, red box—just what you would expect from the Royal Mint. We only have ONE of these available, so if you want the sensational coins in this 15-Piece Set of British Coin Proofs from 1937, you need to act quickly.
