Wheatback Pennies From The San Francisco Mint

Since its debut in 1909 through today, the Lincoln Cent has been a staple of pocket change in the United States right up to this very day. Struck continuously for more than 110 years, the Lincoln Cent is one of America’s most popular coins. It was originally truck to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth and became the first circulating U.S. coin to feature an actual person instead of Lady Liberty.

Beautiful Copper Wheaties

From its first year in 1909 through 1958, the Lincoln Cent was struck with a reverse design that showed a pair of wheat stalks surrounding the ONE CENT denomination. The design is a timeless classic and has led these early coins being referred to as “Wheatback Cents” or simply “Wheaties.” These beautiful copper coins circulated widely for decades and put many young collectors on the path to becoming lifelong enthusiasts.

Here we have a ten-piece set of Lincoln Wheatback Cents with early consecutive dates between 1916-1926, all struck at the San Francisco Mint, which struck only 11% of the total mintage and did not strike a Lincoln Cent in 1922. Each coin is in Very Good to Fine (VG-F) condition. Act now!
