It’s called the Barber Quarter because U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Charles Barber provided the design—after being part of the panel that rejected over 300 designs from the public and other designers. Then he chose his own design! It depicts Miss Liberty wearing a crown made of olive branches with a small headband inscribed with the word LIBERTY.
