Complete Set! A First And Only Resulting From The Pearl Harbor Attack

It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these 1934–1935 Series Silver Certificate Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these “HAWAII” Notes were destroyed. This was the FIRST and ONLY time in U.S. history that such a measure has taken place!

Special World War II-Era Notes Circulated For Only Two Years

This overstamp was added to each silver certificate denomination sent to the islands—which circulated for only two years from 1942-1944. This complete four-piece set features the $1, $5, $10, and $20 notes, each in Very Fine (VF) condition. Today they’re hard to find. We found a small number, so you can get these scarce notes now! As an added bonus, you’ll also receive a replica of an actual Philadelphia newspaper front page from Dec. 8, 1941. Order yours now!
